Trying to encourage, cajole, and eventually threaten your child into doing their homework can be a trying experience. It can be frustrating that something that seems as basic as homework has to be contested night after night. However, there are some practices you can put in place in your house that will help finally obtain a peace treaty with the beleaguered other party- your child.

Yet whatever age your child may be, there are certainly ways you can help, even if you are not fluent with some of the subjects your child is covering. Here are several ways in which every parent can be involved.

Being human beings, we become tired. As a result it is incredibly important to keep a balance between, work, play and sleep. While work is important, it is also important to find activities that take your mind off of the work. It is during this rest time that your body regain strength and give you the energy that is necessary to be both efficient and effective. While this is common knowledge, it is harder to achieve than most student s realize. Sometimes after long hours, a student should force himself to rest. Many of the greatest ideas of our time have come from periods of rest.

The amount of time you spend cajoling and coercing your child to do their work is counterproductive. There is no way that homework should create tension in a family, and definitely not the kind of meltdowns the survey suggests.
